Whether you have a mindful expert in your house, or your child’s mindfulness journey is just beginning, our meditations are an easy, laid back way to integrate our mindful tools through the foundation of mindfulness, and let calm lead the way of their everyday
The empowerment children feel when making choices for themselves leads to confident kids - the power of choice is important - how to practise their mindful tools to help them in their every day: an independent practice or a structured practice.
This is where our meditation library comes into play for your family!
Our mini meditations support letting a child’s mind rest after busy, emotion filled days- letting emotions be noticed & paid attention to, releasing and letting them go - allowing that re-established connection of your child’s heart and mind - settling their nervous system in a way where they don’t have to “do” anything except get cozy, press play, listen to one of our many structured meditations.
How it works!
For the:
Mindful Beginner: This introductory method goes by simply choosing a meditation that looks or sounds good to you/ your child. Lean into trust and let intuition lead the way, it will always turn out to be just right!
Mindful Client: Find the mindful meditation that corresponds with the session/s you had with Melissa & the mindfulness tool/s introduced, investigated and practised and continue the integration and practise of this at home/ in between sessions.
Mindful Expert: For for the child who has a mindful toolbox, backpack or “pockets” full of MKI tools - tune in to your emotions and let the mindful tool land that would be most helpful - then find it in the meditation library & press play
- or -
Have a favourite mindful tool or two? That’s a clear sign of your child’s go-to and most effective way to find their calm (their mind and heart will naturally go there) - practice the favorites with the matching meditation!
As a parent, when/how does my child use this:
As a pro-active practise (to train the heart and mind to work together with mindfulness to help cope as big emotions arise in the future)
- Before bed every night
- On the way to a sporting event to prepare
- In the waiting room at the Doctor's office
- In preparation of the going to the dentist
- Before getting on an airplane
- Part of the morning routine before heading off to school
- As part of family time routine
As a reactive practice (when emotions can be noticed and are big & emotions want to be settled in an appropriate, positive way)
- Right after arriving home from school
- After a sporting event that didn’t work out in your child’s favour
- Sibling disagreements
- Friend squabbles
- When needing to listen to a parent
- The awareness within your child that an emotion is rising or getting “bigger”
- After anything this is upsetting to your child - it can be literally anything
